New Scanner for Antique Ephemera

I bought a new HP scanner this past weekend, and I must say that I can’t believe the difference in the quality of my images! It’s been quite a while since I purchased any new office equipment, so the upgrade is overwhelming. My old HP scanner, actually it’s a 3-in-1, is still working, but I’ve noticed that the quality of the scans weren’t as good.

I’ve decided to go with another HP. They’ve always worked well, and I’ve never had a problem. This time I got an HP Scanjet G3110, and it’s awesome! Ever since I bought a Victorian wallpaper book a couple of weeks ago, I knew I needed to upgrade to a new scanner. The wallpaper book is absolutely gorgeous, and I had to do the forthcoming images justice.

Free Collage Sheet: Antique Victorian Wallpaper Backgrounds

I’m working on creating collage sheets using antique, Victorian wallpaper. I’m busy scanning the gorgeous pages from a late Victorian wallpaper catalog into my computer. And, today, I’m giving you a freebie! It’s a collage sheet of 2, 5 x 7 inch backgrounds made from a border design. I’ve aged the images with free textures I found on the blog, Shadowhouse Creations. Have you visited this blog? Well, if you haven’t, get thee there quickly! It’s spectacular! This blog is full of free textures, and they’re awesome. The blog’s author, Jerry Jones, isn’t only incredibly talented, but he’s also very generous, offering free textures and helpful turtorials. I’m grateful for having found this treasure out there in the World Wide Web, and I know you’ll be as well.

Free Baby Clip Art: Black and White Illustrations from Antique Baby Book

I’ve been posting some new collage sheets that I created with images I found in an antique baby book from 1919. The black and white illustrations are elegant and beautiful. I’m giving you two freebies today from that book!

I’ve made tons of gift tags using these images, and they’re a big hit every time! Enjoy.

How to Use Antique Clip Art: Gift Tags from Baby-Themed Collage Sheets

Gift tags are one of my favorite items to make using antique clip art. And, I love making baby-themed gifts and tags. In my etsy shop I’ve listed some baby and child-themed collage sheets and gift tag designs that I’ve used over and over again to make wonderful paper gifts.

Pictured below are some gift tags that I’ve made to put on gifts using some of the images from the collage sheets listed in my etsy shop. I used a decorated paper punch to decorate the corners of the tags. The antique illustrations are so elegant and unique! Love them!

How to Use Antique Clip Art: Round Frame Clip Art

I belong to a 1” scale miniature dollhouse club. I’ve always been interested in dollhouses and miniatures, so I’m enjoying creating tiny replicas of the real things. And, experimenting with ways to incorporate my antique clip art with my miniature creations has been fun and challenging.

Recently I’ve been obsessed with making tiny boxes. My latest attempts have been with perfume boxes. Pretty cute, huh? ;-) I made the labels using some of my antique clip art. It’s clip art of a very pretty frame. I colorized the black and white image and then resized it much smaller.

I’m offering the round frame clip art I used to make the box label in my Etsy shop!

This blog, The Antique Image, will be going through some changes. First, it’ll now be the blog for my Etsy store with shop updates and creative ideas with antique clip art. Second, if you use one of my antique images, whether they’re free or purchased from my Etsy store, I’d love seeing your creations and share them with my readers. I love being inspired! However, I’ll also still post free clip art here. I love sharing :-)

Free Father’s Day Clip Art: Black and White Illustration of a Pipe

Here’s an interesting piece of clip art that could be used for a Father’s Day project. Even though smoking is becoming more and more taboo these days, a pipe is still reminiscent of dear old Dad and Grandpa. Well, at least it was when I was growing up ;-)

Free Advertisement Clip Art: Black and White Illustration of Antique Advertisement

Here’s an idea that gives new life to black and white illustrations. I’ve colored in areas of this image in my photo editing software. The images from an antique advertising book are perfect for coloring, and I’ll probably do many more of them, like this one as well.

This image would make a lovely greeting card decoration. Use your own colors and create a unique image for your project.
