The Antique Image

This is a beautiful antique postcard I found recently at an antique shop. The flower clip art is very pretty. I love spending hours in antique shops, searching through the piles of antique and vintage postcards. They have some of the loveliest images.

I’ve been experimenting with some of the antique images I’ve posted here on The Antique Image, and thought you would like some inspiration from a project I tried. I converted the first image to .png format. Then, I placed it over this one of an antique postcard.

I think I need to work on the .png image a bit, making it softer, so that it blends nicer with the bottom layer.

Layering in this way creates lovely collages and gives new life to images. I hope you’ve been inspired by my little experiment. Try layering the words over some of your antique images!

This is a pretty piece of antique clip art that I bought from an antique store recently. I’m not sure what it came from, but it appears to be a label of some sort. It’s gorgeous and a real treasure!

For the first time I’m posting clip art that are .png files. They are fabulous! And, they’re much more versatile for use in projects, especially digital projects.
